Just got back from watching Les Mis. It wad amazing (as expected) and i thought I’d share a few amazing moments:
– Marius raising his hand when Javert asked if there were any witnesses in Look Down (Paris) and then running off while Javert turned away from him to look for Valjean
– Instead of just refusing to put his bottle down Grantaire was actively stealing other people’s drinks right out of their hands during Red and Black/Cafe de l’ABC
– In an interesting choice it was Marius and Grantaire’s bond that was emphasised more than the others during Red and Black/Cafe de l’ABC
– Marius and Cosette’s interactions during A Heart Full of Love. They were so cute and awkward and it really felt like they were two kids finding love for the first time
– Eponine kicked Montparnasse in the balls
– EponinekickedMontparnasseintheballs
– One of the other members of Patron Minette basically carried him off-stage after she screamed
– It was fantastic
– Gavroche stroking and patting Javert’s head during Javert at the Barricade/Little People
– Feuilly(?) had to physically restrain Grantaire after Gavroche’s death and it broke my heart a little
– The guy who was playing Grantaire was the one Thenardier pointed out when he sung “this one’s a queer” and I mean… he’s not wrong
– They did an encore of One Day More at the end and it was beautiful
– Overall Mdm Thenardier and Javert were the highlights of the musical. Their actors were really talented and they gave Mdm Thenardier a number of extra little things to do that really added to the character and performance
– The entire cast was under 20 and it just really impressed me how talented they were. Based on their performances I had assumed that were all at least in their mid-late 20s (except the children obvs).
– Did I mention Eponine kicked Montparnasse in the balls?
