#the juxtaposition of grantaire’s character aka the most beautiful literary imaginative in the history of the world #he’s inherently good inherently clever inherently artistic inherently idealistic inherently pure #and yet he spends his entire life pretending he is not believing he is not because he loves good and pure things so much yet he #hates himself so much so how could he possibly be good or pure #and it’s only in his five page long speeches we get to actually see him #when all his pretence falls away and he talks in poetry #he’s the cynic who believes more than any of the rest of them #he’s the realist who martyrs himself for love
