im tired of The Straights™ yelling about how “friendship is more important” and people need to “let [characters] be friends” only when the couple in question is the same sex/gender
the only buildup you need for a cishet couple on tv is for them to look at each other but when two guys or girls are checking every damn romantic trope box, they’re still just friends and you’re delusional
and then these same people try to act like you’re somehow hurting the portrayal of good and healthy friendships in media by shipping said characters. “let guy friends be close!” they yell, as if we don’t have 288293 buddy cop movies and series alone featuring two close straight males
just say you hate gays and leave
