victorhu-gone:

The ending of book 2 is basically ‘And so Valjean was content and the kindest he’s ever been and Cosette is growing up laughing with her convent friends’ and then BOOM Book III Marius and because I know what’s to come it feels so fucking ominous I got a single stomach butterfly of anxiety.

If I stop reading right now Les Miserables ends super happy maybe I should just… Not? Anymore? Just stop here yes? Go read a book about orphans at a carnival (that isn’t even asoue, orphans in carnivals and circuses are surprisingly prevalent) and let Valjean and Cosette be happy there forever together?
