Article 13 is going into it’s final stages of voting.
If this gets through, it will allow many, many companies to abuse and misuse this article to take down as many memes, fan works, and even other independent creators on sites like YouTube, Facebook, and other websites INCLUDING Tumblr.
THE FAIR USE LAW AND SAFEHARBOR LAW WILL LONGER APPLY IN THE U.S OR IN OTHER COUNTRIES.
IT HAS ALREADY PASSED IN SEVERAL OTHER COUNTRIES.
WE CANNOT ALLOW THEM TO TAKE AWAY WHAT WE BUILT FOR THE INTERNET SO FAR.
So here is what you need to do to drag this article down.
1. Spread the word
I can’t stress this enough. The more attention this gets the more people we can get to take this down.
2. Make your own content
Make your own content on the matter and make sure it is clear to others that Article 13 is bad for every internet user involved.
3. If you live anywhere in Europe, contact your MEPs
Ask them if they approve of the article and why. If they do approve of it, try to convince them in a clear, reasonable, and most sensible way possible that this law is BAD.
The article itself is way to vague about what it’s conveying to its people.
Saying that as long as the use of said internet memes or content is good as long as it’s in “good faith.”
We cannot let some shoddy government tell us what we can and cannot post.

don’t question someone else’s labels. TRUST that they’ve done that already. if they ask you for advice, fine, but DO NOT go in swinging. don’t go up to a straight trans man and ask why he doesn’t identify as a lesbian. don’t talk to non-binary people and tell them that their identity is a sham if they don’t transition. don’t ask bi people when they’re going to pick a side. don’t assume that someone who is ace is just repulsed by their own internalized homophobia.
like just… have respect for your fellow lgbtq+ folks because there are so few of us in an OCEAN of hetero-cisnormativity. we don’t have to chip away at each other until only the Cardinal Few remain. there is no reason that we can’t have space for the people who question, the people who change their minds, the people who dip a toe in and pull back out. i am HERE for those people, just as much as i am HERE for the people who can write a dissertation on their attraction and knew from the moment they were born that they were Hella Gay.
there is nothing simple about self-discovery and frankly, i’m not here on this earth long enough to scrutinize my fellow marginalized peoples. there’s no reason to do that shit. it does not, in fact, hurt queer people to be wholly accepting of any wayward identity. non-dysphoric? demi-gray-ace as hell? don’t care, as long as you’re fighting on my side, because i’m fighting on yours.
Article 13 is still in its final stages of voting. The problem is not that people don’t want to protect copyright, it’s that the LANGUAGE of the LAW is TOO VAGUE and OPEN TO ABUSE. IT COULD PASS THIS YEAR.
This law WILL impact EVERYBODY. Media platforms like YouTube will not bother to have different policies for the EU and for everybody else, they’ll just apply strict EU laws to EVERYONE.
MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WILL LOSE THEIR JOBS. You can yammer on all day about how people shouldn’t be building a career on an industry like YouTube or Instagram anyway, but the world changes, and there is actually not much different between YouTube content creators and traditional media like movies and TV. Youtubers, Instagram models, hell, even kids who use apps like TikTok are either directly or indirectly CREATING JOBS, and you CANNOT deny that. ALL OF THESE JOBS WILL BE PUT IN JEOPARDY IF ARTICLE 13 IS PUT INTO PLAY. THE ONLY CONTENT CREATORS THAT WILL BE ABLE TO THRIVE POST ARTICLE 13 IS BIG MEDIA COMPANIES.
THIS IS NOT FEARMONGERING. Is it scary, even anxiety-inducing that Article 13 could take away the only safe space that some people have—the Internet? YES. But we CANNOT close our eyes and scroll past all the article 13 posts because they make us anxious, or because they make us sad. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Reblog/make posts. Spread awareness. Tell your friends. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, IF YOU LIVE IN THE EU, TALK TO YOUR REPS. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO SAVE OUR INTERNET.
We’re currently going through a scare on Tumblr where your blog could get taken down at any time for any unclear reason, because they’re cracking down on child porn. That is good, but many people with perfectly appropriate blogs are having them taken down, too. The thing is, right now, you can still get your blog back without hassle if it is taken down by mistake. Imagine if your blog was taken down simply for making or reblogging a meme, gif of your favorite TV show, or simply producing art that isn’t 100% original, and Tumblr COULD NOT RESTORE IT BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR COPYRIGHT VIOLATIONS BY ARTICLE 13. That could be our reality. Do NOT turn a blind eye to this.
tl;dr Article 13 will 100% change the internet as we know it for the worse, and you aren’t safe even outside of the EU. SPREAD THE WORD. EU RESIDENTS CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVES.

But really, as a “feminine” looking woman, I know that women like me get 99% of all female representation.People are just mad that non “feminine” females are getting any representation at all.
Because god forbid that a character with “she” in her name (She-Ra) is allowed to look like an actual 16 year old girl instead of embodying every female stereotype in the book. God forbid Captain Marvel doesn’t have a perfect hourglass figure, and is drawn with a non-girly face that lots of real women have. God forbid the Ghostbusters can include women that, honestly, look way more like your average woman than a thin, curvy, long-haired 24 year old does.
God fucking forbid those women’s faces and bodies get replicated in media in any way.
Then women might start thinking it’s OKAY to look like that.
Enjolras and Grantaire: Enjolras is neither a dog nor a cat nor a houseplant nor a cactus person, but Grantaire brought home a sodden kitten one night, and he accepted to keep it until they found it a suitable home. Meownet is still there 2 years later because it turns out he was in a suitable home.
Combeferre and Courfeyrac: They have a big goofy golden retriever that insists is a lap dog, and Courfeyrac is positively in love with his good boy. Joly, Bossuet and Musichetta: Between Joly’s and Bossuet’s allergies, the couple finally settled on a beautiful parrot. She’s kind of a diva, loves jazz and pop music. Grantaire teaches her new swear words everytime he comes around, and Musichetta is left wondering why her parrot keeps saying “Eat shit”
Jehan and Montparnasse: Montparnasse is a true cat dad. Armani is a black british long hair, she’s lush and stunning and she knows it. She and Parnasse are one and the same. Jehan keeps knitting her little socks and coats, but she never fails to destroy them while Jehan watches in adoration.
Feuilly and Bahorel: Okay so they either have the tiniest dog or the BIGGEST FUCKING DOG. Either way, it’s dog brain tells it it’s a lap dog. It’s the kind of dog who brings Feuilly toys when he’s sad or stressed because “!!! Look hooman!! Toys make me happy so they’ll make you happy!!” It also goes everywhere with its blanket, for emergency naps.
Eponine and Cosette: Cosette has a white fluffy bunny Valjean bought her one day. Eponine doesn’t really get it, bunnies don’t do anything, they just kinda exist, but she’s nice to pet. Cosette talks to her constantly, and when asked what she tells the bunny, she says: “D’you know why her fur is so fluffy? It’s because it’s full of secrets.”
Teenage alcoholism is so important to recognise. It is not healthy to be getting absolutely wasted a few times a week and sometimes young adults become alcoholic without realising it. If you are unable to have a fun time without drinking or you feel like you need to drink when others are in an overwhelming way then consider getting help.
