Not to get political but my philosophy is fundamentally that all people should suffer less. That it’s everyone’s responsibility to try to make the world a little better for everyone else. And anyone trying to do the opposite is an asshole who needs to stop.
It’s definitely canon that Joly and Bossuet have both been involved with Musichetta, and that Joly and Bossuet live together more often than not, and are in general Partners. From Preliminary Gayeties (4.12.2, Hapgood Edition):
Laigle de Meaux, as the reader knows, lived more with Joly than elsewhere. He had a lodging, as a bird has one on a branch. The two friends lived together, ate together, slept together. They had everything in common, even Musichetta, to some extent. They were, what the subordinate monks who accompany monks are called, bini.
And of course it’s established way back in 3.4.4 that Joly and Musichetta are An Item! Hugo never specifies their relationship beyond that; you can headcanon a full-on poly trio, Musichetta being on-again-off-again with both of them, Musichetta having dated one or the other of them first, both of them having dated her at some point before realizing that actually they’re just gay together, whatever. Current LM Fandom (and I very much include myself in this) has generally settled on the obvious poly reading.
If you were to pin me down and ask me under duress what I think Hugo Really Intended in full cultural context…? Honestly, I’d hazard that he intends them to be an established Relationship Triad. And probably one with minimal drama about it! Like, really-really, that would be my honest cultural-context-based, broader-reading supported interpretation. But I do think Hugo was probably thinking of the three of them according to a specific formulation that would have been recognized as a pretty Standard Trope by his readers.

Anyways genres of monster fans and enthusiasts are off the top of my head

– The folklore historian
– Wants to be a zoologist but for fake animals
– Caring about monsters being treated well more then the actual humans
– Believes in all cryptids and just wants monsters to be real more then anything else
– In it for the sex appeal
– Monsters as abstract metaphors for the human suffering in film and literature
– Just really likes Halloween

let’s be real the overlap between monster fans & lgbtqa+ folks is HUGE
how to compliment someone without seeming like a fucking creep. an easy how to guide:
a) compliment them on something that they can change. don’t say ‘nice tits janice’, say something like ‘your shoes are rad’ or ‘your hair looks great’.
b) don’t be a fucking creep. if it’d weird you out if it was said to you, then it’s likely too creepy to say to someone else.
EASY.

My most favorite compliment I’ve ever gotten I got from a man who was a complete stranger who drove up next to me while I was walking home at 9pm in the night:
I guess he saw me speed walk, overtake, then completely outpace some really tall business man in front of me (who had also increased his speed to overtake me back but failed).
Anyway this complete stranger doing the exact stereotype of what a man shouldn’t ever do drove up next to me, rolled down the window and said:
“That is the fastest damn walking I’ve ever seen. Ma’am, you…have the soul…of a bicycle.”
Then rolled up his window and drove away.
He didn’t creepily drive behind me, he drove regular speed and came to a rolling stop. He didn’t roll down his window all the way or stick his head out, he said his piece quickly and with a great amount of awe and respect, then he didn’t act like he needed a response from me or expect anything from the compliment. And then he left as quickly as he came. The compliment was so good and politely delivered that I’ve thought about it with amusement for over a year.
It is NOT HARD to not be threatening to women. Those who can’t manage it are sus as hell.

Just fyi this will likely affect non-Europeans as well. It’s easier for a website like YouTube to just restrict ALL copyright instead of just sectioning off what they need to. They’ll probably let bigger YouTubers still operate, but small time content creators will be a thing of the past.
