I can’t get enough of planters made out of recycled materials. But I wanna say that if you’re going to thrift stores specifically to buy things to turn into planters, you’re doing it wrong.
Someone who is hardly getting by could have really used that cheap dresser, but you bought it when you didnt actually need it for it’s orginal purpose. Lots of people can’t afford to buy bras, and now that one can never be worn again cause there’s flowers growing out of it. An old but still wearable pair of shoes? Seriously?
Meanwhile you have containers in your fridge that will be empty soon. You were just gonna throw those away. No one needs those. They were at best going to be melted down and turned into more bottles and jugs- at worst going to end up in the ocean. You can easily paint them, poke holes in them, and cut them into whatever shapes you need… and be using something for planting that would otherwise be almost totally useless.
TL;DR: Buying things other people could still use for their original purpose just so you can turn it into something else, when you have free materials at your fingertips, doesn’t make any sense.
Yall can be edgy and talk about how much you hate tumblr all you want but I will be real chief I value my undeserved clout on here and its also the only place that shoots all my niche interests directly into my brain at the speed of light
The idea behind Tumblr, namely the dashboard, how posts and reblogs work (kinda like mini-threads that stream endlessly onto your dash), and the tagging system, is actually superb and I have yet to find another social media site on par with this format. Hence why we all stay here.
But then there’s also the incompetent staff and the extreme cultural madness of the website, hence why we hate it despite staying.
and it’s a zeugma where one of the words is literal and one is metaphorical which is the BEST KIND
I didn’t know about zeugmas until just now! That is so awesome, everybody:
zeug·ma
ˈzo͞oɡmə/
noun
a figure of speech in which a word applies to two others in different senses (e.g.,John and his license expired last week ) or to two others of which it semantically suits only one (e.g., with weeping eyes and hearts ).
