Writing a short (like, 3 chapters) actually happy/funny canon era exr fic because I was in the mood for some canon era without the angst. Using one of the tropes you all sent in.
I mean, there’s a bit of !!!! about it, but it all works out happy and good in the end.
The trope is ‘arranged marriage’, by the way. And despite some discomfort and awkwardness regarding Enjolras’ situation, I promise it’s going to be like a weird canon era rom-com.
Grantaire’s father: Look kid you’re a huge disappointment to the family but you’re going to make up for that by being a suitor for a girl from a very wealthy family far above our station. They’re only giving you the time of day because they’re struggling to marry their daughter off for ~no discernible reasons worth worrying about hahaha~
Enjolras’ father: May I present to you my only child who doesn’t want to be here and *totally hasn’t* physically assaulted every man we’ve presented to her a suitor, like, *totally not*, not even that baronet she stabbed with an oyster fork. What are you even talking about? That never happened.
