I like how at the beginning of Les Mis I was like “I hope Victor spends as much attention on young men at some point as he did describing what may or may not have been allusively Fantine’s cleavage” and now I know that in fact Enjolras’s Greek profile and perfect beautiful face and bare neck are just as important as the perfection with which Fantine’s flesh used to cover her skeleton.  Thank you Victor. I feel better now.

@pilferingapples I’m crying your tags are spot on

He described the wings of Marius’ nose as open and passionate… what does that even fucking mean Vicky?

wait wait wait that’s AMAZING

no he did not call them Nose Wings in French (or the English translations) he said Marius had passionate NOSTRILS

I always thought that was pretty hilarious all on its own but NOSE WINGS is a whole new level ,I am Delighted

why javert could be a lynx, aka “the furry committee pays respects to monsieur hugo, its founder”

RIGHT, so, as to @lawisnotmocked‘s request to find something on what would a lynx metaphor in the brick mean in terms of animal symbolism.

here’s the only instance when a lynx appears in the brick, if anyone forgot it:

Jean Valjean remained inert beneath Javert’s grasp, like a lion submitting to the claws of a lynx.

I’m disappointed.

I’ve seen quite a few Much Ado About Nothing based Les Mis fics, but WHY are there no Twelfth Night fics?

So, we have twins Cosette and Enjolras, seperated in a shipwreck. Cosette washes ashore in Illyria/Musain and dresses as a man to serve in Marius’ court who is trying to woo Eponine. Marius sends Cosette (Cesario? Cose? Idk) to win over Eponine who falls in love with this pretty stranger.

MEANWHILE, Enjolras is saved by a well meaning pirate *cough Grantaire cough* who is absolutely devoted to this strange man he pulled from the ocean. (If you will not murder me for my love, let me be your servant). If they have or started in some sort of relationship from the beginning is up to you. Enjolras, believing his sister is dead, sets off for Musain with a besotted R following.

You’d probably have to adapt the side plot, and I’m not sure who I’d like the most as Feste (Feuilly, Jehan, Valjean, or Combeferre).

Of course you’d fix the ending so that after plenty of misunderstandings, Enjolras ends up with R, Eponine reveals she knew Cosette was a woman and was in love with the real her the entire time and Marius is either content on his own or realizes his pursuit of Eponine was really him trying to ignore he feelings for his friend Courfeyrac.

Anyway, I feel this crossover has so much untapped potential.

  • grantaire is more than alcoholism
  • grantaire is more than cynicism
  • grantaire is more than depression
  • grantaire is more than infatuation
  • literally none of these are among his most important traits. i hope this doesnt come as a shock to you, but if it does, please look at your life choices
