It’s good that most people seem to now get that if we only know that a historical figure had a same-gender romance that doesn’t necessarily mean that they were gay because they could have been bi.

But I think it’s much less often acknowledged that if all we know is that a historical figure never married, that doesn’t necessarily mean they were gay either, because they could have been ace or aro?

Gay experiences, bi experiences, and ace/aro experiences ALL have a looot of overlap with each other, and gay and ace/aro people both share in common the trait of lacking m/f attraction. It’s important to acknowledge that commonality, and bring ace and aro experiences into common conversation as well as we’ve gotten so much better doing with bi experiences.

happy pride month!!!! wlw retellings of batb are automatically superior, sorry i don’t make the rules 😘😘😘

alright folks, here’s undeniable evidence that batb is roughly a gazillion times better with gay ladies

Ever Just the Same

I don’t think calling this a straight-up retelling of the 1991 movie is quite right, bc there’s nothing straight about this ayyyy since the prologue alone throws interesting new concepts out there like “what if the royal family had a history of magical encounters?” @bi-queer-ious‘s gay-u tag has me so hype to see where this is going

hooked on all these feelings

One shot with fluffy library bonding, both during and post curse. And the title is a Hayley Kiyoko banger, so you know it’s gay as hell B)

In A Crowd of Thousands

Okayy technically this one’s an Anastasia retelling, but ya’know, French Revolution! This one’s got bickering love interests, plum/lumi/cogs power thrupple, and bonus smut 😉

Then there’s this totally relatable drabble featuring Belle mistaking a crush for jealousy.

And does musician lady!beast catch your interest? Look no further than here!

Actually, @demoisellebeauty portrays Belle as bisexual and it’s super on point.

Song as Old as Rhyme

My guilty pleasure fic. Something about the combination of building sexual tension and trying to guess a mysterious host’s name really gets to me. Quality smut, if that’s what you’re into.

Don’t forget the rad art!!!

ok but like how could you forget Right Foot. Left Foot. , aka post-curse fiancées ice-skating and flirting and just generally being adorable as fuck together

I hate when straight people talk about how we “should never assume anyone is gay!!” based on appearance/mannerism/behaviour/anything

But they never talk about how assuming everyone is straight is harming people!!!

Not letting us talk about gay aesthetics and traditions and culture is just another way to silence and isolate us 🙂

It’s so disingenuous, too. Like…I know I look gay, okay? I get called out and harassed by strangers all the time over my appearance. And I do most of it on purpose! This isn’t some high school movie ugly duckling narrative; lesbians aren’t awkward wallflowers wishing desperately that they could look like straight girls, if only they’d ever learned how. As if we could escape being taught! I’m a grown adult and I choose to look this way.

If you really don’t think there’s anything wrong with being gay, why do you think it’s the polite thing to pretend you don’t see it, especially since it’s how I wish to be seen?

This is such a good post, my god. Sometimes I feel so guilty for recognizing other queer folks by picking up the signals – aka, “assuming based on stereotypes” – but the reality is that most of us who do have those signs and signals are intentionally coding to find each other and be ourselves visibly and loudly.

I haven’t seen any terms like stag/doe for aromantics so I decided to come up with a few, and they’re based on flowers!

Poppy aro – aromantic person that presents femininely, regardless of gender

Dietes aro – aromantic person that present androgynously, regardless of gender

Scilla aro – aromantic person that presents as masculine, regardless of gender

I hope everybody like these 💙

Edit: I made an edit to the poppy aro flag, please let me know on this post if you prefer it, or prefer the original

Here’s another link just in case

Yknow the sad thing is, we know if there was a straight couple on sesame then they wouldn’t have made that statement about them not having orientations

And they’re acting like it’s not appropriate for kids or something, it’s so stupid, couples are shown on kids tv all the time, this was just pure and simple homophobia. Saying that they have no orientation was to shut down the idea that Bert and Ernie are gay without looking blatantly homophobic.

Good news though, it didn’t work and they still look blatantly homophobic.

a friend of mine told me about her friend i think from high school who was gay but not out, and he pretended for a while to have a girlfriend named Amanda who he would go see a lot, and they’d be all, come hang out with us and he’d be like sorry I’ve got a date with Amanda, and they were like when are we gonna meet this Amanda??? anyway he kept this up for like a year until he finally came out; and when his friends were like, “wait, what about Amanda?” he said, “IT’S A MAN, DUH.”

i have literally never admired anyone’s commitment to a joke more
