since it’s national coming out day how about some les amis coming out hc

  • enjolras came out as trans when he was 16, and though his parents weren’t 100% open minded, as he got older they began to accept him more. as a teen he used to hate them, but now he calls his mom every sunday
  • combeferre came out at bi at 16 too, and like enj his parents were a little confused but ultimately accepting
  • courf never had a choice to stay in the closet. “the sky is blue, water is wet. i like dudes” his flamboyance outed him a long time coming, but thankfully his parents welcomed him lovingly
  • grantaire wanted to come out when he was a teen but his parents, mostly his dad, are not the most accepting. he came out while at college just before he graduated. he doesn’t care that his parents are hateful though. his friends are all the family he needs.
  • jehan coming out as nonbinary to their parents was…complicated. they didn’t understand, and really they didn’t try to. jehan has a distant relationship with them, but like grantaire, being themselves with their friends is all they need
  • for feuilly growing up in various foster homes, he never had anyone to come out to. and for that reason, he’s always felt independent. he knew he was trans, he knew he was gay, and so he was.
  • bahorel came out loud and proud, with a dance routine. he’s dramatic like that.
  • bossuet coming out as bi was really successful, but he didn’t come out to his parents until he was 19
  • joly’s family was shocked to know he was queer and, like boss, also put it off. he actually didn’t come out until he introduced him as his boyfriend…awkward
  • musichetta came out after college via text, not caring about her distant family and not giving a shit.
  • eponine also, did not give a shit. she never came out to her parents, because she never talked to them at all. she sort of came out to azelma, but really she raised her and she knew her little sis would always love her
  • cosette struggled with her coming out. she knew valjean would always love her and was a gentle soul, but still. he was mysterious. when she told him she liked girls, he wept because of how brave she was. cosette also cried. their family is an emotional mess
  • and finally, marius. marius didn’t realize he was bi until well into his 20s, after her started hanging around les amis. so it wasn’t his family he had to come out to— it was them. he sat them all down, announcement style, and told them. there was much applause, many hugs, and a few tears. mostly from marius. he felt so happy to have a family that loved him so much and felt so accepted

I feel like people might care more about Marius & Cosette and how embarrassingly cute they are if more adaptations included: 

  • ALL THE TIMES THEY JUST LOOKED AT EACH OTHER “SUBTLY” in the park
  • Their “first argument” with Marius mad at nothing and Cosette being bemused and a little bit frustrated because this happens when they haven’t even talked to each other yet so she has no idea why handsome boy is being an offended idiot. 
  • The way they only kiss once and then they spend their time talking to each other. 
  • THE WAY THEY TALK FOR HOURS AND MANAGE NOT TO SAY THEIR NAMES TO EACH OTHER UNTIL THEIR CONVERSATION IS OVER
  • The time they giggled like adorable idiots for so long after Marius admits he used to think she was called Ursula 
  • The two hours where Marius bangs his head against a tree while Cosette cries because her father wants to leave for England. 
  • two hours. seriously. I just. 
  • this SHOULD BE IN EVERY ADAPTION EVER. 
  • Cosette tending to Marius while he’s sick after the barricades.
  • Cosette cheekily saying that she’s got Marius so she doesn’t need a maid. I’m not going into kinky territory, i’m not but …
  • Cosette holding her new husband at night because he has nightmares he doesn’t want to talk about, Cosette whispering reassurances and not asking about those names that pass through Marius’ lips sometimes. 
  • Marius holding his wife as she mourns her father and apologizing for hours and hours because it was because of him that Cosette couldn’t spent those last months with her dad, and Cosette feeling so angry at Marius and herself, feeling so guilty and lost and clinging to her husband. 
  • Marius and Cosette having only each other in the world as the people who truly cared about them and are not abusive (looking at you Gillenormad) are dead
  • MARIUS AND COSETTE OKAY. 

They’ve got so much potential as adorable dorks in love. When people ignore them, include them only because they feel they have to but spent so little time on them, when they’re called boring, or idiots, or annoying, or WORSE (looking at all the people who ever said Cosette and Marius should have died. AREN’T THERE ENOUGH DEAD PEOPLE IN LES MIS why them if you want to kill more Thénardier père is still fucking alive at the end of the book and a slave trader NOW WHO’S FUCKING WORSE), it hurts my soul. I love those romantic babies. I want them to be healthy with each other and support each other and love each other for the rest of their lives.

all the amis meet up in the afterlife and it’s tearful and they all try to comfort enjolras but courfeyrac, in the midst of this, does a headcount and he just . ‘where’s pontmercy??’ and they all look around at each other and bahorel ’…….that motherfucker.’ and enjolras just ‘are u Fucking Joking PONTMERCY IS ALIVE’

-marius and cosette’s wedding is very emotional for courfeyrac and he pretends to be crying tears of joy (which he is, but that’s besides the point) and everyone can kinda see the sadness there too and he’s just ‘awe man i would’ve gotten the best suit’ and ‘damn Right he doesn’t have a best man cause it’s ME SON. I’M THAT BOYS BEST MAN.’ and once he’s run out of jokes and his eyes are still teary and he just sadly smiles and ‘i wish i could’ve been there, y’know.’

-valjean arrives and he has to find his family but the barricade kids are waiting there for him and they meet him and shake his hand just to thank him for his help in the revolution and courfeyrac makes himself be last and he thanks valjean for saving marius so he could have a life

-the day baby fantine is born courfeyrac is popping bottles ‘THAT’S MY NIECE!!!!!! THAT’S MY NIECE LOOK AT HER BAHOREL LOOK SHE’S AN ANGEL!!! A TRUE GEM!!!!!!!’ ‘jehan, i love you dearly, but this is truly the most beautiful girl in all of paris.’

-and they have a son named jean which makes jehan’s chest puff up a bit and courfeyrac is SCREECHING ‘LOOK AT HIM! THE MOST HANDSOME MAN IN FRANCE! MY OWN SON, IF YOU WILL.’ and courfeyrac sees that the baby’s middle name is courfeyrac and he starts crying and he, “that- THAT’s MY NEPHEW!!!!” and he’s just . “do you think they can feel my love from here??”

-cosette passes away first and courfeyrac waits alongside fantine and valjean and he lets them have their reunion and once they’ve calmed down jvj draws attention to courfeyrac and courf just ‘hello i know we’ve never met but i’m felix courfeyrac-’ and cosette lights up ‘you’re Courfeyrac?? oh marius talks so highly of you it’s such a pleasure to meet you’ and courfeyrac is beaming and he thanks her for giving marius a good life and they hang out from time to time

-and like . an estimated 30 yrs later jvj and fantine and cosette and eponine and all the kids are waiting and marius shows up and all the kids are just SCREMAING at him like HOLY FUCK SON!!!!!! U GOT UR GAL!!!!! UR ASS GOT SAVED!!!!!!!!! and you can hear a ‘MOVE, GET OUT OF MY WAY.’ and courfeyrac bursts through the cluster of boys and he jumps on marius ‘HEY YOU FUCKIN GEEZER I MISSED YOU.’ and marius just squeezes him as hard as he can and god marius is CRYING and courfeyrac doesn’t let go of him for like 3 minutes until he remembers others are here to see him and courfeyrac waits semi-patiently for him to meet fantine and reunite with cosette and jvj then after marius rushes back to courfeyrac so they can talk because it’s been far too long and he missed his best friend

I’ve had this doodle in my wip folder for literally months I am so pleased to finally post it because honestly that post??? I cry every time bro it’s wonderful. also all the more emosh when you remember the last time courf jumps on marius and gives him a big hug is when he saves courf and gavroche at the barricade :,)

also from that post based on a conversation punkamis and I had and uh, possibly ruining the mood with stupid jokes…
