I was searching through the notes of a post about Stan Lee and noticed one blog in particular spouting horrible stuff about a man who just died. He called Stan Lee racist, homophobic and a bigot and was celebrating his death. This is all I gotta say to that.
Stan Lee wasn’t perfect. He lived for 95 years so you can understand mistakes would be made, however he is not evil. He certainly isnt racist or homophobic. Dont cuss out a man who just died. Don’t deny him his legacy.
Those fake IG accounts that people make for their favorite characters are always SO FUNNY because you know that there’s no actual way that any of those characters would have the aesthetic ass layouts that tumblr white girls think they would. Steve Rogers wouldn’t have a pastel word pic that says “Miss You Even Though You’re Right Next to Me” he would have like 2 and a half blurry selfies and a pic of a cool bird that he saw that reminded him of Sam. That’s it.
Shuri quoted exactly one meme in Black Panther but that’s all that mcu fans have reduced her character too because it means they just get to tell the same joke they’ve already heard a thousand times and tack her name onto the front of it, which is easier than writing the same kind of meta you’ll write for B*cky
I was gonna leave it at that but actually I’m still annoyed and I can’t sleep until I type this so excuse my semi-incoherence but
There is literally so much content that could be made about Shuri. At the end of Black Panther she was put in charge of Wakanda’s scientific outreach programs. I haven’t seen a single post even wondering what she’s been doing with that. Okoye seems to have a sisterly relationship with her (the “did he freeze?” Scene was literally the most casual you see Okoye, and it’s when she’s joking/teasing T’Challa with Shuri). I haven’t seen a single post even wondering what they mean to eachother (platonically). Actually, it seems like the ONLY person Shuri is allowed to have any kind of (again non-romantic) relationship with outside of on occasion her brother ( + whatever fav op is trying to glorify) is Peter, and even THAT is just the two of them repeating memes at each other while T’Challa and *insert Avenger but probably Tony* are confused (but bonus! *insert other avenger* might get the joke! What fun!)
But if those kinds of more broad headcanons aren’t your thing there’s STILL other things about Shuri you could be talking about. She just lost her brother a second time ( and dont pretend thats not the kind of thing mcu fans dont write posts about, because weve all been in the thor tag) and in Black Panther when she thinks her brother had died she says “we didnt even get to bury him”, now there isnt even a body to bury and I haven’t seen a SINGLE post mentioning this (outside of my own). And dont pretend that if this was a different character there wouldnt be SEVERAL posts about it because I know you like Angst (because not a day goes by where I don’t see Man Blinking Sadly gifs with Deep Meta).
But hey if that’s not your kind of thing and you prefer happier more lighthearted content (I know I do) then what kind of (NON MEME) shenanigans do you think she and her brother used to get up to? What kind of Classic Sibling Antics? I’d love to see a post about that that doesn’t mention the Avengers. Also since T’Challa and Nakia have known eachother since they were kids, obviously Shuri has practically grown up with Nakia. How do you think they got along? How do they see each other currently?
Also she is a literal genius. What do you think are the thoughts behind her inventions? What do you think her past inventions are that her current ones are improvements upon? (I’ve actually seen one post about this!) What improvements do you think she’s made to tech post-Black Panther and post-IW? Do you think she’s tried updating the barrier after Thanos army started to break through?
How do you think she’s been leading Wakanda post-IW? T’Challa died so she probably had to take the throne. Who do you think she goes to for the most guidance? What has she been focusing on during her reign? Has she been working to recover from the affects of the snap? Has she been trying to find a way to seek out Thanos and reverse the affects?
I’m too tired to type more but basically Shuri is an improvement-motivated genius with a well defined personality in canon, who has experienced great personal tragedy and most likely has to lead a nation immediately after. Stop reducing her to fucking memes.
