This, my friends, this is true etymology. Explaining why something is named the way it is, finding patterns and principles of meaning, not just tracing a word’s form back through time (which, admittedly, is oftentimes a prerequisite for exploring the former).
To anyone with an eating disorder on Thanksgiving: I know it’s scary. Stay safe. You deserve to enjoy your dinner. Treat yourself kindly after you eat. You can do this, and I love you.
I hear a lot of people bitching that they can’t leave kudos multiple times per story, or can’t leave kudos on every chapter, or whatever.
Well, take a page out of this marvelous book, because I swear I’ve never been so happy to receive kudos as waking up to multiple people having done this on multiple chapters on a story I just posted.
The bar just got raised, folks.
