kylo ren is the prime example of white male villains whose awful actions are excused by
whitefangirls in order to faun over him because he’s “tragic” and “tortured”, instead of focusing on the black character (finn) who is actually tragic and tortured, and instead of becoming a monster, went against everything that he ws programmed to be and became a good guyhe’s also the prime example of an abusive white man who the fans would rather ship with the white female lead instead of a variety of other, less abusive potential partners, but are not accepted as valid options by them because they’re not white men

WHAT NOOO HOW DID I MISS THAT

God I had a theories of human nature exam today and this image kept flashing in my head every time any one of these three were mentioned
what she says: I’m fine
what she means: why is Dorian Gray never played by people with blond hair? why is Dorian always depicted as all pale and dark? oscar literally describes his hair as gold like two seconds after we meet him. directors apparently feel like they have to make Dorian look dark dangerous and brooding, but he’s not supposed to look dark and dangerous and brooding. That’s the whole point. No one ever suspects him because he looks like an innocent little cherub with golden curls and rosy cheeks. His physical appearance is described with terms that Western literary tradition, during the nineteenth century in particular, associated with goodness and godliness, and this is intentionally juxtaposed with the blackness of his soul. If you intentionally play him as someone who looks like a Byronic hero, much of the symbolism of his character is lost, right?
@the-night-that-ends-at-last made me think of you, know how much you love dorian gray!
@cantando-siempre this is some TEA right here!!!!!
i hope you’re all aware of the 300 recently discovered love letters between two gay british soldiers during ww2 that are going to be possibly adapted into a film.
they’re beautiful and poetic and tragic and heart-wrenching and brave. i highly suggest going and reading the excerpts.
here’s the one that broke my heart:
“Wouldn’t it be wonderful if all our letters could be published in the future in a more enlightened time. Then all the world could see how in love we are.“

This website has a ton of illustrations from various editions of Les Misérables.
Have some Orestes Fasting and Pylades Drunk.
so i made this post a couple days ago and got a favorable response, so here’s the casting i came up with! feel free to discuss ❤
choris genos theatre troupe, or ‘without gender’ (name per kyle @eposettemyass), where our goal is to put on classic plays/musicals regardless of gender or other factors involved
(also i really really want us to write and film our own les mis sitcom/series??? like a theatre troupe is lovely but involves all living nearby and developing for years, but a webseries, while a big goal, is actually slightly achievable? let me know what you guys think honestly)cast (mostly les amis so far) –
enjolras = @the-night-that-ends-at-last; she is very fierce and passionate and dedicated, has strong political opinions and is one of the first people i’d want leading a rebellion tbh
courfeyrac = @cantando-siempre; me! i have been informed that i am very cheerful and animated (which i agree with because i’m always moving and i never shut up), plus i’ve been told i have good confidence and a very good sense of fashion and all this makes me very happy because i adore courfeyrac!
combeferre = @sofhtie; i haven’t gotten to know nicki as well yet but i feel like we’d work well together and i want to get to know her more anyway! she strikes me as having good potential for combeferre, and i’d also definitely put her as dance captain if we needed one
grantaire = @eposettemyass; kyle just strikes me as the perfect kind of actress for grantaire and i really think she could pull it off well (plus i want to see her careening around the stage with classic mythology rants and being very gay)
jehan = @writing-orpheus; orpheus is a lovely poetic being and they were one of the people i cast immediately; i cannot picture them ever fitting anyone other than jehan so perfectly, no more needs to be said
eponine = @sleepyandwitchy; libby isn’t emo (to my knowledge) but i feel like she would be a very good actress to play eponine and i somehow have an instinct that her voice would fit ep well
cosette = @loveandliberty; frances seems very whimsical and kind, and as an added bonus beyond how perfect she is for cosette she’s a classically trained soprano and we need someone up in the rafters because there’s no way i’m hitting any of ‘sette’s notes
marius = @definitelygrantaire; now i know that with kira’s username it seems odd, but i have an instinct that she’d play marius perfectly; sweet and in love and i honestly don’t know why but i feel like she’d be perfect
azelma = @mynameisglasses; i just recently started talking to glasses and haven’t gotten to know her as well as the others yet, but she seems very lovely and a perfect azelma!
we still need a lot of characters if we did a stage production, but we’ve got a good start!! let me know what you guys think; i’m curious!
GUYS IM IN THIS I LOVE THIS SM @cantando-siempre IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST
reblogging again bc I want it to be at the top of my blog
